Ron Cann

Ron is a Marketing Consultant and Brand Coach who has served as a key advisor to business leaders of start-ups and small enterprises, as well as public and private corporations for the past 14 years. Leaders turn to Ron to inspire visions, articulate brands and to manifest those visions into consistent and engaging brand experiences, across online environments and traditional marketing channels. On any given day you will find Ron facilitating workshops and planning sessions, coaching leaders, plotting strategies, and immersing in the latest trends - all the while having a great time at it.

In his volunteer time, Ron is President-Elect for the BC Association of Integrated Marketers (www.bcaim.org).

Ron has a BBA from Simon Fraser University in Marketing and Organizational Behaviour, and a Certificate of Internet Marketing from the University of British Columbia.

When he’s not visioning brands, Ron loves to spend time watching his kids be kids, getting out on the odd bike ride and exploring life with his adventuresome wife.

Carmen Chan

Carmen is a Research Manager at Ipsos Reid’s Vancouver office (www.ipsos.ca). Ipsos Reid is Canada’s market intelligence leader, the country’s leading provider of public opinion research, and research partner for loyalty and forecasting and modeling insights. Staffed with seasoned research consultants with extensive industry-specific backgrounds, Ipsos Reid offers syndicated information or custom solutions across key sectors of the Canadian economy. As a key member of Ipsos Reid’s Western Canada retail team, Carmen manages quantitative research projects in retail and branding, as well as other sectors (including education and not-for-profit). Further, she manages custom panels for media and financial services clients.

Carmen graduated with honours standing from the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a Marketing Co-op specialization.

Carmen is enthusiastic about serving her first year on the Board of the British Columbia Association of Integrated Marketers (BCAIM). When she is not busily volunteering for the BCAIM or immersing herself in market research, she can be found spending quality time with her furry friend (a Maltese).

Candace Hollas

Continuing with her successful history in the marketing field, combining marketing and finance, Candace is Vice President, Finance and Administration for Kirk Integrated Marketing Services Ltd. (www.kirkmarketing.com). Direct mail is just the beginning at Kirk Integrated Marketing. Kirk, in business since 1952, is a full service outsource provider for printing and mailing solutions, offering data management services, digital variable printing, offset printing, mailing services and fulfillment and warehousing services. Prior to this, Candace held the position of Managing Director of Tilbury Mailing Services Inc., after spending five years with Globel Direct, a data driven communications company. She was Managing Director of the Vancouver and Edmonton branch offices and responsible for overseeing a budget of $10 million. Candace's experience also includes accounting and business management in the fields of property management and vending.

From 1999 to 2004, Candace was on the Board of the British Columbia Direct Marketing Association (BCDMA), now the British Columbia Association of Integrated Marketers (BCAIM). Candace was Co-Chair for the 5th Annual BC Direct Marketing Day, the BCDMA’s premier event of the year, focusing on direct response marketing, held in February 2004. She was the Board Governance Director and registered the BCDMA as a non-profit industry association through the Society Act of British Columbia and helped establish the Association's by-laws, policies and procedures. Candace also acted in the capacity of Treasurer for the non-profit society of Volunteer BC for a period of two years. Candace rejoined the Board of BCAIM in the capacity of Treasurer in February 2006.

Candace completed her Bachelor of Commerce, with a major in Accounting, at the University of Calgary. She completed her Certified General Accountant (CGA) program through studies at The University of British Columbia.

Debi Rumley

Following a 12 year career in the dental profession Debi joined Premier Envelope in May of 1989. She managed the customer service and Administration departments.

From May 1989 until April 2005 Debi held many position's at Premier Envelope. As the company grew so did her responsibilities. Over the 16 years she served as Administration Manager, Operations Manager and the last 4 years as Vice President responsible for Sales and Marketing.

In November 2005 Debi joined Supremex Inc., Canada's Largest and Leading Envelope Manufacturer. Debi joined Supremex to manage their Sales & Marketing. She spends most of her time looking after her Direct Mail Clients.

Debi joined the board of the BCDMA in September 1991. Her first portfolio was education chair. She served that position for 2 years before moving into Director of Social Events. For the past 13 years Debi has held our monthly lunches, is the director of our Golf Tournament and sits on the DM Day board co-ordinating the venue and trade show.

Volunteering has become a main focus for Debi in the past 4 years. As a Breast Cancer Survivor Debi is Co-Chairing Nite of Hope White Rock / Surrey. Debi lives in Surrey with her husband, Jay and they have one daughter, Kelly.

Mark Donnelly

Mark is Web Strategy Manager at BCAA, one of the largest member-owned organizations in British Columbia with more than 750 000 members. In this role, he is responsible for setting web channel and marketing strategies, objectives, and tactical plans that are fully integrated within BCAA’s overall business strategies and that support each of the organization’s lines of business of membership, travel, and insurance.

Mark joined BCAA after working as an independent consultant helping companies establish and implement web strategy as a core element of their business. Prior to his consulting work, Mark enjoyed an extensive and varied marketing career in the telecommunications industry with TELUS where he guided and lead teams responsible for distribution channel strategy and management, product management, and regulatory compliance both on a regional and a national basis. His integrated marketing background spans many areas including direct mail, email, campaign design and management, channel management, strategic marketing, program analysis, and product development.

Mark earned his Bachelors degree in Business Administration at Simon Fraser University and also holds a Masters of Arts degree in Economics from the University of British Columbia (UBC). In addition, he holds a Certificate in Internet Marketing from UBC.

Mark is very active in community sports in the South Surrey White Rock area both as an association executive and as a coach. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing and golf (and is currently encouraging his two children, Ryan and Erin, to join him and his wife Karolyn in taking up the game).

Mark joined the BCDMA board in August 2005.

Michael Callaghan

Michael Callaghan, founder and President of Canadian Marketing Manoeuvres Inc., has a long career in accountable marketing/advertising and the early days were highlighted by two ‘best of’ Awards from the Australian Direct Marketing Association in 1985. Since this time Michael has worked with many clients from the worlds’ largest banks, to credit unions, insurance companies, non profit arts organizations, retailers’ and B2B specialists. Michael’s firm specialises in strategic business/marketing plan and new product development, customer targeting and acquisition programs. Michael’s is using his experience in Sponsorship program development, negotiation and management in his role as a Director of BCAIM.

Thomas Stringham

Thomas founded communications company Hot Tomali in 1998 with the vision of running a streamlined agency that produces top quality creative. Over the years, Thomas has refined his strategic and creative skills to forge strong, successful relationships with his clients. Under his leadership, Hot Tomali has grown into a full service agency offering advertising, web development and design to a wide variety of clients, including TELUS, Big White, Silver Star, Tourism Kamloops, MINI, Covenant House, VisionMed, Open Learning Agency, The International Dyslexia Association, G.A.P Adventures, the Sport Fishing Institute, Calgary Airport Authority, Douglas College and Cloudworks Energy.

In 2002, Thomas won the IT Rising Star Award at the CIPS BC Innovators in IT Awards and in 2003, Marketing Magazine chose Thomas as one of 12 “Ones to Watch”, honouring marketing professionals who demonstrated extraordinary innovation, clout and leadership. Thomas’ creative work has been recognized at numerous award shows, such as the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, London International Advertising Festival, Marketing Awards, Lotus Awards, Applied Arts and The Bessies.

A strong believer in giving back to the community, Thomas is the President of the BC Chapter of the International Dyslexia Association and sponsors the Vancouver Board of Trade’s Leaders of Tomorrow mentorship program.

Peter Steele

Peter Steele is the Founder and CEO of Antarctica Digital and a serial entrepreneur. Prior to Antarctica Digital, he founded, built and sold a boutique tax consulting practice for the high tech industry and a publishing company in Japan, with offices in Canada and the UK. He is passionate about entrepreneurship and is a member of Entrepreneurs Organization, having served as president of the Vancouver Chapter and a Board Member on the International Board. He is also an active member of ACETECH and participant of their Growth Strategy Program.

Geoffrey Bird

Geoffrey is an instructor and freelance copy writer, web designer and photographer.

He teaches direct marketing, advertising, and web design at BCIT as well as a public relations course at Kwantlen University College.

Geoffrey has over 17 years of advertising and marketing experience working for some of the leaders in the Vancouver market including Bryant, Fulton & Shee, Go Direct Marketing, Big House Communications, Columbus Group and CKNW. For part of his career, he worked client-side — a rarity among creative types — at Rogers Wireless (formerly Cantel).

A peek inside his portfolio would reveal experience with clients such as B.C.’s Children’s Hospital, United Way of the Lower Mainland, Money Mart, Science World, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC, HSBC, Rocky Mountaineer Railtours, Soyaworld, Intrawest, Playground, TELUS, TELUS and more TELUS.

Wayne McKay

Following a brief stint with CIBC in Manitoba and Ontario, Wayne joined Vancity and, in 1966, became one of the credit union’s branch managers. In 1967, Wayne helped launch the first daily interest savings account in North America and, in 1970, he was appointed the first controller of a credit union in B.C. In 1975, he led the development of the first fully on-line computer system for financial institutions in Canada. Wayne also served as the VP of Administration, Operations, Human Resources and Marketing before leaving Vancity in 1990. Vancity was twice voted one of the Best Companies to work for during his tenure. In 1991, Wayne received the Distinguished Service Award from the Credit Union Foundation of BC.

From 1991-2002, Wayne ran McKay Lenarduzzi Marketing, an advertising agency and consulting company specializing in financial services and sports marketing. He represented players, teams, and associations and staged many competitions on a national and international level. He also served as the Chairman of the Vancouver Sun Children’s Fund and Treasurer of the Vancouver Crime Prevention Society and was the leading fundraiser for the Terry Fox Run for two years. Wayne was also instrumental in saving the historic PNE carousel and its restoration.

In 2003, Wayne joined Westminster Savings Credit Union as the Vice President of Marketing and served in that capacity until his retirement December 31, 2008. During that period, WSCU expanded its branch network from eight to eleven, refined its marketing activities and grew its retained earnings by $52 million.

In addition to BCAIM, Wayne serves as a director of the Child Development Foundation of BC and an advisor on the Douglas College Marketing Board. He remains an ardent sports fan following fastball and his beloved Canucks and lives on a golf course in Surrey.

Chris Randall

Chris has spent the past 10 years at ResponseTek Networks, a Vancouver based Customer Experience Management (CEM) software company. Having joined the company upon inception, Chris has played a central role in the organization’s business development – including a pivotal role in early stage marketing and business planning as well as overseeing the company’s growth into an international organization with a strong base of Fortune 1000 clients.

Chris is currently the Director of Client Services, responsible for ResponseTek’s global client base and the professional services arm of the business.

Chris is an expert in designing customer engagement and customer feedback strategies, and has personally guided programs at a number of industry leading customer centric organizations.

Prior to joining ResponseTek, Chris spent several years as a marketing and management consultant, providing guidance to both public and private organizations.

Peter Reek

Peter has been helping companies make smart decisions and build for success for over 20 years. Seasoned in market research, brand architecture and senior-level marketing, Peter knows what businesses need to meet their goals. He also knows who they need. A consultant for 8 years, Peter specialized in group moderating and team facilitation. Translation: he knows people. He can spot the star and sniff out the imposter. Peter has served clients in a variety of industries, lead sizable teams and launched divisions in Canada, US, Europe and Australia.
